Services For Individuals:

CCV provides an opportunity for seniors to have a one on one visit with a therapy dog for an extended period of time, which is tailored to the individual’s needs. While there are programs that offer visits from a therapy dog many times the therapy dog/ handler team is seeing as many individuals as they can in a set amount of time making it difficult to spend longer amounts of time with someone who could benefit from an extended visit.

Through CCV a client can be scheduled for a designated amount of time and know that the registered therapy dog will be coming in to see only that person for the time requested. Visits can be as regular as an individual or family would like and can be done at times most convenient for a client’s schedule, based on CCV’s availability.

The following are a few reasons CCV may be contacted for visits:

  • A client used to have a pet and would like to continue contact with an animal friend.
  • A client likes animals in general.
  • A client is on hospice and is in need of extra comfort.
  • Family members or friends are not able to visit their loved one as frequently as they would like.
  • Depression
  • Loneliness
  • Loss of spouse

A client does not engage in their community’s activities but may be willing to have an animal visit for stimulation.
A client is withdrawn and does not wish to interact with people but may be willing to visit with an animal, as this may feel safer. In some instances changes in the client may be seen where the client is more willing to interact with staff after a therapy animal has started making visits.

An animal visitation may give a dementia/ memory care client something to relate to from their past which may illicit memories or discussions that were not previously present.

This gives a client an extra activity to look forward to in their day.

Services For Communities:

Although the main focus of CCV is to provide a longer individual experience for each client we are also able to assist communities if they are looking to have a therapy dog come in to visit multiple residents during a set amount of time.
